I am recording from a cassette player. Will iRecord automatically split file when a new track begins?
Yes, iRecord automatically detects silence interval between two songs and starts recording to a new file. Hence, different songs are recorded to different files (automatic track splitting).

14.

iRecord is not splitting the audio tracks when I record from my cassette player. What
might be the reason?

iRecord detects the silence interval between two songs to split the track. For some old cassettes the player may output a hissing sound (noise) in the interval between two tracks. You will have to adjust sensitivity of iRecord to the silence interval. iRecord Desktop utility provides you with an easy way to adjust silence threshold.

15.

You can use iRecord desktop utility to disable automatic track splitting feature.

How should I connect mono audio source to iRecord?
Mono audio source has only one audio output connector. But iRecord has two audio input connectors( Left and Right channel) to support stereo audio sources. Mono audio source must be connected to Right audio input connector on iRecord to get better audio quality.

21.

Can I use iRecord to digitize my old LPs and cassettes?
Yes, you can use iRecord to digitize your old LPs and cassettes. You need a player with iRecord compatible audio output, preferably a line-out.

iRecord can record A/V files up to 3 hours duration. If you do not stop recording after 3 hours, iRecord automatically generates new file. Always check firmware upgrades section of the website to make sure that you have latest firmware running on iRecord.

29.

I have just purchased a new iPod, can I start recording to it with iRecord right away?
You can but the recorded A/V file will appear as a data file on iPod. To make the recorded files appear in the iPod’s play lists, you should first configure your brand new iPod with iTunes by connecting to a PC or Mac.

31.

I have recorded a movie/song to my iPod. It appears as iRecord_xx/xx/xx xx:xx in
the iPod playlist. How can I rename or delete this movie/song?

You can attach your iPod to your PC/Mac and look under DEVICES (not the local library) in iTunes to browse your iPod contents. From there you can delete/rename the recorded files. There are a number of ways, including the following: 1. To delete a file, simply select the file and press Delete key. 2. To rename a file right-click on it in the list and select Get Info in the popup menu. A dialog will pop-up, from here you can change the file name in the info tab.

32.

I record video or audio on my iPod and files are created in Videos->Movies and
Music->Songs playlists but these are not visible in iTunes local library? Also, if I sync the files are deleted from iPod.

iTunes works in one direction, i.e. iTunes-> iPod and not the other way round. Hence, you will not see these in iTunes local library. Same reasoning goes for iTunes deleting the irecorded files on forced syncing since there is no history of them in iTunes. When using iRecord the manual mode of iTunes is enabled by iRecord to prevent automatic syncing. Of course you can still move your other contents from iTunes to iPod in manual mode.

33.

When I stop recording to an iPod, the status LED starts blinking red rapidly, instead of going green. The recorded file does not appear in my iPod's playlist. What is going wrong?
A mismatch between iRecord firmware and iTunes on your PC or Mac is detected. Please check iRecord website to get latest information on iRecord compatible versions of iTunes. Firmware upgrades are also provided to ensure, that iRecord works with newer version of iTunes. Please check iRecord website to download the latest firmware upgrades.

34.

37.

The iRecord looks functional but it doesn’t record anything?
Make sure that there is enough free space available in your USB mass storage device. The status LED will change from ORANGE to GREEN immediately if there is no space on the storage device.

38.

What will happen if I accidentally press the power button while recording?
Nothing. There is a safety mechanism whereby the power switch is disabled while recording is in progress.

39.

How will I recognize stored audio and video files?
In case of USB storage media, recorded files are placed in Root directory of the USB storage media. The file names will be in the form of iRecxxxx.MP4 for video and iRecxxxx.MP3 for audio files, where the xxxx represents the sequence number of the recording. In case of iPod, recorded contents appear in “Videos->movies” or “Music->songs” menu. The file names will be listed as iRecord_mm/dd/yy hh:mm where mm/dd/yy represents the date and hh:mm represents the time of recording.

40.

Is it possible to play content from my iPod or PSP® while the iRecord is recording content onto my iPod or PSP®?
No, while iPod or PSP® is connected to the iRecord device it is not able to retrieve content to play because its user interface is disabled. However, when you stop the recording, you may immediately play it on iPod or PSP® without detaching them from iRecord.
